Custom Garden Design: Culinary Herb Garden

A Culinary Herb Garden

If you’ve always wanted a garden but don’t have time to maintain a full vegetable patch, a herb garden may be perfect for you. Herb gardens are compact, accessible, and super low maintenance - just like this kitchen garden we recently installed for a client, designed with ease in mind.

Client: Mike & Peggy in Walworth, Wisconsin

Custom Garden Design:

  • one Corten steel garden bed with 12 sq. ft. of growing space

  • blue chip gravel

  • tripod trellis

We installed the Corten bed right off the back of the deck for easy picking once the herbs are ready for harvest.

“Katie has it designed so we probably have 15 different herbs in it. It's super easy to weed. Organic, functional and attractive." -- Peggy

Garden Installation Process:

We kept this install low-maintenance, with convenience being key. The addition of a tripod trellis gave us vertical growing space to completely maximize the area.

Not everyone has the ability, space, or time to tend to a large kitchen garden, but any amount of organic, homegrown produce you can add to your diet is going to provide health benefits. The vitamins and nutrients found in a fruit, veggie, or herb that is picked at it's prime are proven to boost your health. And it doesn't hurt that garden grown produce just tastes better!

Herb Garden Highlights:

“The Corten has already weathered beautifully and looks great. I use the garden constantly and I cook more because of it. Now I can walk outside 10 feet, pick my lemon balm, and have tea in a few minutes.  I wish more things were as useful in our lives as this garden. I love it.” -- Peggy
