Custom Garden Design: The Perfect Beginner Garden

The Perfect Beginner Garden

Ready to start small and get your hands dirty? This 32 square foot garden is perfect for a beginner garden. Don’t underestimate what you can grow in a small space! Smaller gardens can easily tuck into most landscapes. And if you are strategic about how you grow, there should be enough space for all your favorite produce. For this family, and eggplant was a must-have veggie in the kitchen garden!

Client: Haley, Dan, & Sally in Burlington, Wisconsin

Custom Garden Design:

  • Two 4x4 cedar beds with 32 sq. ft. total growing space

  • Lattice arch connecting the two beds for additional vertical growing space

Garden Installation Process:

We kept this beginner garden small and manageable for these first-time gardeners, and easily accessible for the kiddos. Since the clients had no previous gardening experience, we were there every step of the way. We started with the initial planning phase, were we collaborated to figure out spacing, design, and their must-have plants. Then we took those plans and installed the beds and lattice. After installation, are giving plenty of advice and guidance to Haley and Dan so these new gardeners can enjoy a bountiful harvest.

Beginner Garden Highlights:

“‘Beginner’ is an understatement to describe our gardening skillset – we knew NOTHING about gardening.  Katie helped us build the garden of our dreams!  We are thrilled to be able to grow our own healthy organic produce.” -- Haley
