Custom Garden Design: A Garden-to-Table Backyard Makeover
A Garden-to-Table Backyard Makeover
This kitchen garden was just one part of this family's total backyard makeover. This huge project included fresh landscaping, a renovated patio, and a kitchen garden. The kitchen garden is just one aspect of the backyard makeover, and we chose a moderate amount of growing space so that maintenance is super easy!
Now three generations of the Broderick family will be able to grow together. Sheila and Brian are particularly excited to host family and friends in their new backyard oasis.
Client: Sheila & Brian (and their daughter Megan, & granddaughter Sophia) in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin
Custom Garden Design:
Four 4’x6’ cedar garden beds with custom
Locally-made moon arches
Tucked into a city lot with 96 total sq. ft. of growing space
Garden Installation Process:
We installed a mid-level garden with herbs, veggies, and flowers all mixed in together. There are many benefits to co-mingling your plants, not to mention how beautiful it looks when everything is in full bloom at the height of summer! To personalize this family's garden, final touches included custom-made moon arches for Brian’s favorite San Marzano tomatoes to climb all summer long.
Backyard Makeover Kitchen Garden Highlights:
“Our granddaughter and her friend enjoyed so many new veggies and herbs including edamame beans and fresh cucumbers solely because we grew them in the garden. The kitchen garden has been so effortless compared to past gardening experiences!” -- Sheila
This garden is a great example of an easy-to-maintain option for new gardeners, or gardeners who have limited space.
