Silo Garden
A New Life for an Old Barn: The Repurposed Silo Garden
A masterful blend of past and present, this garden is the definition of a repurposed space. Once the foundation of a working barn, this site has been transformed into a flourishing edible garden, breathing new life into every corner of its history.
The vision to convert the former barn foundation into a garden sanctuary was bold yet fitting, respecting the character of the space while giving it a fresh purpose. Raised beds, thoughtfully placed along the old feed alleys, have been aged with a patina finish to echo the rustic charm of the original barn. Now filled to the brim with an abundant mix of vegetables, herbs, flowers, and strawberries, these beds bring vibrant, edible life to the structure’s sturdy bones.
Custom-built trellises, carefully designed to anchor into the concrete foundation, provide support for climbing plants and add architectural interest to the garden. At the center, an inviting garden-to-table dining area makes it easy to enjoy fresh harvests in the heart of this unique setting.
One of the most captivating elements is the salvaged silo, now repurposed as both a storage space and a striking focal point that honors the barn’s heritage. The silo completes the transformation, grounding the garden in its storied past while creating a truly exceptional space for gathering, growing, and savoring life.
