Featured In. . . At the Lake Magazine: Benefits of Organic Gardening

I recently had the pleasure of talking to At the Lake magazine about the benefits of organic gardening.

Think the costs might outweigh the benefits of organic gardening? If you're like me, standard practices of big chain grocery stores (shipping in produce from thousands of miles away, using chemicals to artificially keep produce looking fresh, and throwing out hundreds of pounds of food a day) don't really align with your health goals. Coupled with the steadily increasing prices of groceries, it’s no surprise that more and more families are searching for alternatives.

The Benefits of Organic Gardening

When you grow your own produce:

  • you know exactly where it came from

  • you know exactly how it was cared for

  • you know exactly when it was harvested, so you can enjoy it at its peak nutrition value

Not to mention the other benefits of organic gardening: putting your phone down, turning the TV off, getting off the couch, and enjoying the natural benefits of being outdoors and working with your hands.

For me, gardening has always been a meditative practice that brings me back to my roots and instills a sense of calm. I’m sure we could all use a little more zen in our lives!

Plus, we laid out a comprehensive plan so you can pave your way into organic gardening. Check out the article for a step-by-step process of starting your own organic garden.
